My Injury Led Me Toward Chiropractic

The Hospital Doctor told me it was a pulled muscle. Go home and take these medications. I could not work, it was difficult to sleep and it interrupted my life.
I was injured at the gym lifting weights. As I raised a weight overhead, I felt a pulling spasm in the middle upper back. I dropped the weight because of a weakness in the right hand with severe pain. I was taken to the hospital, where they did X-rays and an examination. They said it was a pulled muscle and I should go home and take the muscle relaxer and pain medications. I asked them if they had a chiropractor on staff. They just laughed. That night was one of the worst nights ever. The next day my Grandmother took me to her Chiropractor and the rest is history. I enrolled in school the next semester to become a Doctor of Chiropractic.
My Chiropractic Journey
After my undergraduate studies at the University of Utah, I decided to attend Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, CA. I chose this school because of their sound Chiropractic Philosophy and their emphasis on Chiropractic Technique. We started learning how to adjust the spine in the first quarter. This not only made us better doctors, it made us recognize the importance of finding the spinal related problems so we could do a great job correcting them.
Living a Chiropractic Mission with My Family
As a Doctor of Chiropractic it has been my mission to help sick people get well, regardless of their age or condition. I have lived that mission with my family. I have 5 daughters, all of which I delivered. After the first 20 minutes of their life they were given a chiropractic adjustment to enhance their quality of life. My wife Susan Sorensen is a believer in the natural ability of the body to heal itself. She has been supportive in my career and works hard to live the chiropractic lifestyle. Away from our practice we like to go hiking, camping, fishing, white water rafting, and coaching the girls in soccer. I am also an NRA certified pistol instructor and I teach a Women's handgun safety course.
I exercise regularly, a minimum of three times per week. I eat good food including healthy grains, nuts, seeds, vegetables and lean meats. I spend time reading positive self help books and I get adjusted once per week. This program has kept me healthy, happy, and full of vitality.
